I purchased this as 'snow insurance'. I figured if I bought a new snowblower it wouldn't snow! And it was working until 3 days ago. We received some really wet snow, freezing rain and sleet. A heavy mess that my old snowblower would have struggled
with, but the ST224P went through it easily. It's great having all the controls right there in front of you. All are easy to use (although the gear shift is a bit stiff and always wants to go to Reverse if you don't give it a fair amount of effort to put
it where you want it). The power steering works well, in fact a little to well. It really turns sharp so that will take some getting used to. I didn't notice the handgrips getting warm with the heated handgrips switch on, but then again I didn't notice
my hands getting cold either.
I do have 2 minor complaints:
The screen in the gas filler makes it difficult to fill the tank quickly without pouring gas all over the the engine, which I did the first time I filled it. I'll probably end up taking the screen out. My old Craftsman didn't have a screen and it's still
going strong at the age of 28 clearing my brother's driveway.
Reverse is WAY too slow for my liking. It barely crawls and for me I think it'll be pretty much useless, other than when backing into the garage when the job is complete.
Overall, I'm VERY happy with this purchase and recommend it!
